USM’s Matt Wallner named All-American

In 2017, Southern Miss slugger Matt Wallner was named National Freshman of the Year by most publications and that was just a sign of things to come.

Today, the now junior was tabbed a pre-season All-American by Collegiate Baseball as the only first-team selection from Conference USA.

Over the summer, Wallner played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team after leading the Golden Eagles in home runs and RBI during his sophomore campaign.

Wallner earned All-American honors by three different publications in 2018, as either an outfielder or designated hitter.

He also pitches for the Black and Gold.
