2019 Hoopsfest match-ups announced

The biggest high school basketball showcase on the Gulf Coast is ready to roll.

Today, Mississippi Coast Coliseum officials announced the match-ups for Hoopsfest 2019 featuring 13 local teams in an all-day hoops competition on Saturday, January 19th.

Biloxi will serve as the main event in its game versus Florence who brings in a McDonald’s All-American already committed to Alabama.

This year’s event is a marquee milestone of 25 years and counting. Mississippi Coast Coliseum Executive Director Matt McDonnell said, “Means I’m getting older. But it is very gratifying to see an event like this work year after year after year after year. It’s the commitment of the coaches to sell the tickets. It’s the commitment of the players to come out and play hard. It’s the commitment of the fans that want to come in and enjoy good high school basketball in a bigger environment than a local high school gymnasium. So all of those commitments from all of those different groups are what makes it work.”

Overall, half of the coaches in this year’s event played in Hoopsfest when they were in high school.
