One dead in early morning shooting in Gulfport

One man is dead following a shooting early Sunday morning that occurred near New Haven and Klein Road in Gulfport.

Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victim as 23-year-old Shawn Taylor Jr. of Gulfport.

Gulfport police received a call of shots fired near the area of New Haven and Klein Road. Units responded to Ashford Court and found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Taylor was pronounced dead on the scene. His body is being sent to Jackson for an autopsy. The investigation is still ongoing.
