Gulfport Police Department hosts Easter Egg Hunt

Well, some hoppin’ good times were going on at the Barksdale Pavilion in Jones Park this evening with an Easter egg hunt ran by the Gulfport Police Department.

Gulfport PD threw this event to help get more involved with the community around them. The event was supposed to be on the grass field, but the rain from last night left it in poor condition, so they moved it under the pavilion.

Kids arrived at the event and were given some goodies such as bunny glasses, bubbles, and baskets, courtesy of the city and Walmart.

They then lined up along the tape where they quickly ran into the pool of eggs to collect some treats. Gulfport PD Community Relations Specialist Tiffany Power said, “We wanted a really good positive impact on the community from the police department and let them have some interaction with our officers and other staff members of the police department. We couldn’t do it without them. We’re really happy with it especially being the first time the police department hosted one in coordination with the city a little bit, but mostly it was done by us and our personnel the police department. So, we’re really happy with the turnout and can’t wait for another one next year.”

The police department not only hopes to do it again next year, but hopes to keep the event a long going tradition in the future.
