Ocean Springs Mayor Kenny Holloway’s first State of the City Address
The City of Ocean Springs is maintaining the small-town charm while rebranding to be more accommodating to residents.
Mayor Kenny Holloway’s first State of the City Address suggests Ocean Springs is heading in the right direction.
Ocean Springs is a city with 13 annual festivals and an ‘A’ rated school district. Infrastructure projects, like the sports complex, construction on 1515 Government Street, drainage and sewage, roads and the completion of Front Beach hope to improve the quality of life for residents and tourists.
$38 million allocated to the city from various grants and government funding will allow for necessary work to be completed in line with the comprehensive plan. Mayor Holloway said, “I’ve been in office for ten months now, but we’re going to talk about all the good things that are going on in Ocean Springs. We have a lot of development. We did fairly well up in the legislature this year. So, we’ve got some good monies to do some infrastructure repairs and work. We’ve got a lot of businesses open and we’re going to talk about that too. So, we’ve got a lot to talk about.”
According to Mayor Holloway, most growth is happening in the downtown area and in east Ocean Springs.
