Christmas on the Water boat parade
One of South Mississippi’s favorite Christmas celebrations is kicking off this Saturday.
The Biloxi Christmas on the Water boat parade will start on Saturday at 6 p.m. It is free and you’ll get to see dozens of boats decked out in lights and Christmas decorations float down the Mississippi Sound.
If you want the best viewing spot, organizers say as long as you are between the Biloxi Lighthouse and the Small Craft Harbor you’ll have a great view.
Before the parade, there will be Christmas in the City Festival going on in the town green with activities like photos with Santa, carolers, and much more for the family to enjoy from 10 to 4.
This Christmas celebration has been happening in Biloxi for over 30 years. Biloxi Public Affairs Specialist Cecilia Dobbs-Walton said, “People really do look forward to it every year. It’s an event that’s been going on for several years so it is something that people look forward to every year and they get excited about it. It is beautiful to see the lights on the boats and on the water. Sometimes they have ornaments that they make to hang on different parts of the boat or they have blow-up characters that they put on so they get very excited.”
The parade will end with a firework show over the water so you won’t want to miss out on this annual event.
