A look into the 2019 Legislative Session

During the legislative review, lawmakers spoke about the success of the special session that took place this summer and said they are ready to tackle new issues as they move into the upcoming session.

The session will begin on January 8^th in Jackson. Senator Brice Wiggins tells News 25 they have started to look at a handful of topics.

Senator Wiggins says they plan to discuss school safety, transportation, the lottery, criminal justice reform as well as the idea of a teacher pay raise. “Putting money into education is always a good thing. The revenue is trending up and we are better than we were the last couple of years so that’s a good thing. So, I think it is really going to be shoring up the state’s finances.”
