St. Patrick Boys Basketball’s Nick Krass signs with Oregon State
The St. Patrick boys basketball program just completed its best season ever and out-going senior Nick Krass certainly had a lot to do with that.
Now, the former News 25 Student Athlete of the Week is ready to take his game to the next level in an area code far, far away.
This afternoon, Krass signed a National Letter of Intent with Oregon State, fulfilling his Division I dream years in the making.
Recruited as a combo guard, Krass says he started getting calls at the end of his sophomore year, but didn’t have the Beavers in his bag until the end of his senior year.
Krass was a hard man to ignore this season, leading the Fighting Irish with 22 points per game en route to their first Final Four appearance all-time, finishing with an overall record of 31-3.
Krass finally committed on March 22nd and so begins his life in the Great Northwest with a closet full of orange. “Well, their coaches – they believe in me. And one of their main things was you earn what you get and you get what you earn, and they believe in me. And it just felt like home even though it was all the way across the nation. I mean I couldn’t have picked any farther. But even though it was that far, it really just felt like home. And like I said before, the coaches believing in me and everybody just felt like family, so I just love it up there. My family loved it, too. So, it just clicked, and that was it. It’s a surreal moment. I’ve been waiting on it for a while. Very excited and just blessed to have it.”
Krass also the team-leader in assists, steals, and blocks. He says he has no plans to redshirt.
