Gulfport Woman’s Body Identified
Delores Diane Gonzales was last seen June 21st, 1973 leaving the Racquet Club Apartment Complex where she worked.
Her remains were found the next year in Choctaw County, Alabama. Law enforcement officials were not able to identify the remains until this week after Gulfport Police assisted in collecting DNA from her family members.
Law enforcement says they’ve discovered it was Delores’ husband, Robert Gonzales, who shot and killed her before burying her body.
“From what I can tell from the family, there was a lot of domestic abuse between them, and that’s all I know. They got married young. And shortly after she went missing, he got a girlfriend and he also married and this was all within a year or so,” said Detective Frank Mazzola.
Gulfport Police say Delores’ husband died in 2007 after admitting to family members he had committed the murder.
