Storm damage in Harrison County

Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan says Harrison County fire responders and road crews were kept busy this morning with numerous calls of trees down in roadways, power lines on fire or broken, street flooding, and accidents.

Sullivan told News 25 Lizana fire units cut up a large tree in the roadway of Old Highway 49 this morning. The storm system came through the area before daylight and prompted tornado warnings and watches.

The system is moving out of the area, but the danger of street flooding and fallen trees are still an issue.  Sullivan advises to turn around, don’t drown if you come across a water covered road.

Also in Harrison County, Harrison County Road Manager Timothy Smith sent News 25 images of storm debris in districts 2 and 3. Trees have fallen down and plenty of branches appear in the roads. A tree branch even caught on a power line.
