Inaugural Witches Brunch

Halloween is just days away and some witches in Gulfport decided to get into the spooky spirit a little early.

News 25’s Gabby Easterwood visited the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art for their inaugural Witches Brunch.

Witches rode in on their brooms from all over for this fun-filled event.  Attending witch Leslie Granberry said, “We’re having a blast. It is so much fun. We’ve spent the week planning on our hats and shoes and makeup. It’s just a great time for a group of ladies to get together and do something good for our community.”

This inaugural Witches Brunch was started as an effort to start raising money for the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Arts and some community outreach programs they want to start up. Galleria board member Andi Oustalet said, “Every single dime that was made today is going to go directly to the Galleria. There will be no expenses. Everything was donated that we have here today and so all of that money is going to go directly into the Galleria for some community outreach programs, so that way we can you know reach out to some more school children, maybe have some more school programs here at the Galleria.”

Brunch was donated by Patio 44, which is opening in the coming weeks just south of the Galleria. These ladies got a chance to mingle with fellow witches and enjoy art hanging in the Galleria. To these witches, it’s all about getting attention to the Galleria and the local art there. “There are some wonderful artists upstairs. They’re amazing. The talent that we have is incredible and we just need to celebrate that and that’s part of the reason why we’re doing this,” said Oustalet.

They hope to make next year’s brunch bigger and better, but if you’re interested you’re going to want to sign up early because tickets for this event sold out almost immediately.

This brunch was just a way to shine a light on the Galleria and let it be part of the growth of downtown Gulfport. “There’s so much going on that’s exciting in downtown Gulfport that this little gem right here is a part of that. We kind of want to kick off the excitement of downtown Gulfport.”
