Gulfport man arrested for DUI manslaughter
A Gulfport man has been arrested in Santa Rosa County, Florida after causing a crash that killed a passenger in his vehicle.
Forty-seven year-old David Owen Jr. is charged with DUI manslaughter after his Ford F-150 truck entered an off-ramp on Interstate 10 eastbound before running off the roadway and overturning early Tuesday morning.
One of the passengers in Owen’s truck, 36-year-old Shannon Rings of Biloxi, was thrown from the car and killed. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Owen, as well as two other passengers in the car, both of Gulfport, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Owen was arrested on suspicion of DUI manslaughter and booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail. He is being held without bond.
