Generation Free’s Free Fest

This morning, middle and high school students came together at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center to say no to tobacco.

They participated in Generation Free’s Free Fest to learn how they can become advocates around health and wellness, especially relating to tobacco and electronic nicotine delivery systems.

Students learned about the importance of smoke-free policies and ordinances in their schools and communities from the youth advisory board. Generation Free Youth Advisory Board member Conner Thurtell said, “We inform them about the dangerous side effects of e-cigarettes and juuls because we are seeing those become more and more prevalent among teens and youth. So, by informing them about it we are giving them the knowledge that they need to formulate their own opinion and go out there and really push and educate people on the dangers of those products and why they shouldn’t be using them.”
