Man shot near Biloxi High School, school put on lockdown
One man was sent to the hospital this afternoon after an accidental shooting in Biloxi.
According to Biloxi police, the shooting happened in the area of Biloxi High School. Major Chris De Back confirmed the 20-year-old black male suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There are no suspects.
Public affairs with Biloxi Public Schools say the man was sitting in his car at the AJ Holloway Sportsplex and claims he was shot. He then walked onto the Biloxi High School campus and entered the high school front lobby to ask for help. As a precaution, the high school was put on lock down.
Biloxi High Principal Marcus Boudreaux said, “Our nurses tended him until the paramedics arrived. I do have to commend all the first responders, both the fire department, as well as law enforcement, they were here immediately.”
The shooting is still under investigation and the victim is listed in stable condition.
