Baby girl stabbed, baked in oven in Shaw, Mississippi

Mississippi officials are investigating after a dead infant was found in an oven.

Police were called Monday night to a home in Shaw. There, a 20-month-old girl was found dead in an oven.

Officials are still investigating the baby’s cause of death as well as when the baby may have died. The body has been sent for an autopsy. The girl had been stabbed, placed in the oven, and the oven was turned on.

A person is being questioned in the death, but charges haven’t been filed as of Tuesday morning.

Shaw, with 2,000 residents, is about 100 miles northwest of Jackson in Mississippi’s Delta region.
