Mississippi Power restoration efforts in Panama City
Mississippi Power’s one hundred person storm team continues to support sister utility Gulf Power’s restoration effort in Panama City following Hurricane Michael’s landfall.
The crew started working on Thursday and so far they’ve replaced more than one hundred electricity poles in the area.
Mississippi Power engineer and storm team leader Kris Williams says one of their main priorities is getting the power restored at the Gulf Coast Regional Medical Care Center. “We were initially estimating around 800 to 1000 poles that had been broke. All of the wire is completely on the ground and again this serves as a pretty heavy commercial, industrial area of Panama City.”
According to Mississippi Power, 62,000 customers have had their power restored since Hurricane Michael made landfall last Wednesday.
