Fatal Accident in Gautier
On Sunday morning, a single vehicle accident in Gautier claimed the life of an Ocean Springs man.
Daniel Tooksbury, 38, was traveling southbound on Gautier-Vancleave Road when his car veered off the road. First responders found his care in the ditch near the corner of Indian Point Road. The Jackson County Coroner’s Office declared Tooksbury dead on the scene.
Right now, there are very few details as to what caused the accident. The Gautier Police Department has now begun their investigation into the accident.
Sgt. Mark Rodriguez of the Gautier Police Department said, “Well first of all, we have what’s called a report being crash. Where we go in and put in all the information, what we gathered from the scene. We will communicate with the coroners. We communicate with other officers and witnesses from that scene and they tell us what they observed and we apply that to the crash report”.
Officers added toxicology tests are planned to see if Tooksbury was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but they have no reason to believe he was impaired.
