Christian Films Becoming More Popular

“Do You Believe?” is now ranked as a top ten film by Fandango, Grossing more than $2.3 million.
News 25 asked just exactly what is driving this wave of Christian based films.
"This is just proof that shows that people do want family-valued and faith valued films. And that’s really the key to it, and that’s what we’re looking for, and that’s why they’re so popular”, said Hilton Glass.
Glass and his wife are the founders of movie ministries outreach, a group that helps bring Christian films, like “Do You Believe” to theaters across the nation. He started to get more involved after being an extra onset of the movie “Courageous”.
"The energy is phenomenal because they’re not there for the money, they’re there because they’re working on a set and they’re working on a faith-based film. So God is just working and giving everyone the energy”, said Glass.
Courageous was the third major film by director Alex Kendrick, others include “Facing the Giants” and “Fireproof”. His next film, “War Room” will hit theaters August 28th.
And Rodney Blakeney hopes to launch a Mississippi based program off the momentum of these films.
"We’re going to be putting together a team of people here on the coast to explore what can we do as a community to begin that process of maybe producing, writing, scripting, acting out and doing our own faith-based film right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast”, said Blakeney.
