Bay Bridge Bomb Threat

The Bay St. Louis Bridge was shut down for an hour and a half today following a report of a note found at the Silver Slipper Casino that read “Bay Bridge will explode”.
"We rallied everyone together, the State Fire Marshall, Marine Resources, Hancock County, Bay St. Louis, and the police department. We thought it best to shut the bridge down due to the nature of the threat”, said Michael Forman who is the MDOT Southern Region Commander.
Multiple agencies worked together to investigate the threat and ensure the safety of bridge commuters as well as the surrounding community.
“We deplored our assets, three boats with officers to search underneath the bridge to look to see if they saw any suspicious package that may be there”, said Rusty Pittman, Deputy Chief of the DMR.
"So we received a call to come assist and we brought our dog over here and searched under and on top of the bridge. As of right now everything is clear”, said Ricky Davis, Chief Deputy Fire Marshall.
"We shut down the east bound and the west-bound traffic this morning just to keep the public off and the boating public and going on the bridge as well because we didn’t know if it was going to be a serious threat or if it was going to be a hoax but thankfully it did turn out to be a hoax."
While no explosive was found on the bridge, the investigation is still on going as to who left the note.
"The FBI is involved and they do have two good leads from what we’re being told about who left the note”, said Michael Forman.
If convicted, a person falsely reporting a bomb could face up to ten years in prison and or a 10 thousand dollar fine.
