Youth Build participants complete one year program

Six Youth Build participants in the construction trade program graduated today.

Graduates received basic general construction and basic electric wiring certifications. The one-year program trains youth 16 to 24 skills for success in a trade to better their future.

Youth Build also has training tracks in culinary, hospitality, conservation, and medical assistant fields.

Graduating young adults since 2008 over 400 participants have been successful in the Youth Build program. Climb CDC CEO Jake Cook said, “It’s not a hand out. It’s what we call a hand up. So, basically, what we do is try to get them ready for life. We also teach leadership skills. We teach job readiness skills. That is very important because not only do we want to prepare them on their career tracks. We also want to prepare them to understand the importance of taking a job.”

Graduates were gifted hard hats, tool belts, work boots, and gloves.
