Shuckers Tour MGM Park
After winning their opening series on the road in Pensacola, the Biloxi Shuckers have finally made it to the gulf coast to see the place they will soon call home.
"We’ve seen pictures and Buck has shown us live feeds of the field and stuff, but to actually be here in the city is something", said Pitcher Tyler Wagner.
This afternoon, officials from Yates Construction gave the team a tour around MGM Park, giving them a glimpse of what their home field will look like.
"I think it kind of blew all of our expectations out of the water with the setup of the field and the backdrop with the Beau Rivage and the ocean and just the way that they placed it in the middle of the city…I think it’s great”, said Infielder Nathan Orf.
The players walked along the concourse and through their future locker room. Although it’s still concrete for now, management tells News 25 they can already tell it will be an upgrade from their stadium in Huntsville. Today’s tour helped players see the light at the end of the tunnel to get them through the remainder of their road games.
"When they’re going through this 50 game grind that we’re going through now, we got almost five out of the way. It will make them think its work the wait", said Manager Carlos Subero.
The stadium is tentatively set to be completed June 6th, but the weather may push the date back. Regardless, players are looking forward to the day they get a true home field.
