Breaking ground on new fire station

This morning, the City of Biloxi broke ground on their newest fire station on Highway 67 near Hudson-Krohn Road.

Station 10 will be a single engine outpost that will serve the northeastern portion of Biloxi. The new station will also call for the hiring of nine new firefighters by the Biloxi Fire Department.

Fire Chief Joe Boney says the new station will not only give firefighters a ‘class A’ facility to work out of, but will give the surrounding community better protection and quicker response times.  “In the event of a medical emergency, seconds count, and right now, we’re not happy with the amount of time it takes us to respond in this area for a medical emergency. So, that’ll change as well. It’s a big deal for the citizens of Biloxi.”

Chief Boney tells News 25 he expects the station to be up and running in nine months.
