Speaker brings motivation to Crossroads teachers

The first day of school is still a few days away for those in Gulfport, but teachers and staff from Crossroads Elementary School were in a group setting today to hear from a special inspirational speaker.

Larry Bell is a nationally-known motivational speaker, author, and educational consultant. Bell traveled all the way from Virginia to speak to teachers and staff today at the Isaiah Fredricks Community Center. Bell shared strategies for inspiring these teachers and boosting student achievement.

He hopes these teachers take what he says and applies it to their classrooms this upcoming school year. “This workshop is about the fact that every teacher can reach and teach any child they put in front of you because high expectations transcend all barriers. They transcend race, gender, economics, it’s not about the money in the home or the color of the skin. It’s all about believing in these children and showing them you care.”

This program came in preparation for the first day of classes next week.
