Southern Miss Beach Bash set for Thursday

Fall camp is right around the corner in the college ranks and the Golden Eagles are soaking up the last of their summer days right here on the Gulf Coast.

Tomorrow, the USM Alumni Association will be hosting its 20th annual Beach Bash as a part of the big three party series.

The event is set to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Biloxi Civic Center with tickets running at $15 and free for children ages 12 and under.

More than 20 current players will be making the trip down from Hattiesburg alongside third-year head coach Jay Hopson.

The Black and Gold are coming off an 8-5 campaign in 2017 and are slated to report to fall camp next Thursday and will hit the field for the first time on that Friday.

USM’s only player to land pre-season recognition from Conference USA was also tabbed for the Lou Groza Award watch list earlier today. Joining Parker Shaunfield on the 30 player list for the nation’s best kicker is Mississippi State’s Jace Christmann who is only a sophomore.
