Academy Sports shopping spree
The Academy Sports and Outdoors in D’Iberville is making back to school shopping easier with a shopping spree for 30 kids with Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA.
Each child received a $100 Academy gift card to use towards athletic attire, backpacks, footwear, and other school needs. That’s a total of $3,000 for those who need back to school items.
This is the program’s ninth year and has benefited over 3,000 kids throughout the southeast and Midwest U.S.
For the second consecutive year, kids with Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA were chosen for the spree. YMCA Youth Service Director Theresa Haynes said, “It’s going to help the families so much with school supplies, clothes, shoes, and whatever else they may need to help them with the school year.”
Academy Sales Manager Kevin Harris said, “One thing I like about working for Academy is that they are all about the community, being able to give back. It makes everybody feel good that we are able to give back to the community and be a part of a company that does that.”
Since its grand opening three years ago, the Academy in D’Iberville has participated each year in back to school shopping sprees.
