Finding Daisy: Missing dog from Texas

For over twenty days, the search for Daisy the dog continues. Visitors to the Gulf Coast left the area heartbroken after the dog escaped from a hotel room.

A summer trip to Ship Island June 28th took an unexpected turn for a Houston family getting a call about their missing dog Daisy. Volunteer Elizabeth Osburn said, “That family was just absolutely devastated when that happened. That is not how they anticipated that trip going.”

Daisy’s owner Brad Darnell put the word out about the four-year-old German Shepard pinscher mix who was accidentally let out by housekeeping at the Clarion Inn Hotel in Gulfport. That’s when Elizabeth Osburn decided to spread the word. “I made about 12 to 15 posters. I know there was another woman who made a couple of them.”

There have been reports that Daisy was seen walking along the railroad tracks just behind the hotel in Gulfport and she could have traveled as far as Long Beach. “I’m hoping that once people are aware as soon as they recognize her they know to let us know.”

With Darnell and his family having to return to Houston without the dog they love, locals like Osburn and the Shepard of the Gulf are putting together search teams to find Daisy. “We are not going to be able to do this alone. It is going to take the community because she is so scared. She’s not the kind of dog that you are going to be able to say ‘come here Daisy’ and then she is going to come.”
