Ocean Springs adult basketball league
For locals who still wanna be like Mike or are simply staying in shape check out the Ocean Springs Park and Rec adult basketball league.
The league consists of 16 teams, two divisions, and one championship. There’s a regular season and a playoff to contend for the championship. You assemble your own team. A $325 team fee covers all the games, certified officials, game balls, and security.
This all started when members of the Ocean Springs community who love the game of basketball wanted to start a program for adults to compete. City of Ocean Springs Athletic Coordinator Chris Kostmayer said, “We offer all the leagues for kids. So, we wanted to offer for the adults in the community. We had a lot of interest from parents from our basketball leagues. So, we decided to get it started last year.”
Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson said, “Guys like me, we used to play basketball and be real active in sports. We get a little older and you know how it is. It’s hard to really find the time. That’s why it’s good to have this type of program, just to promote being healthy and promote being active.”
Next year, the league plans to have even more teams. In which, Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson plans to assemble his version of the Golden State Warriors and win the championship.
