First case of West Nile virus reported in Mississippi

Today, the State Department of Health reported the first case of West Nile virus for 2018. The reported case is in Hinds County.

MDSH officials want to remind Mississippians to act now to reduce their risk of infection. They suggest using a mosquito repellent with an EPA registered ingredient while outdoors. Remove all sources of standing water around your home. Wear loose, light colored long clothing to cover the arms and legs while outdoors and avoid areas where mosquitoes are prevalent.
