Biloxi Shuckers at Mississippi Braves
Biloxi Shuckers Pitcher Jon Perrin said, “It’s usually a great atmosphere. I don’t know how much more American you can get than playing baseball on the fourth of July with a fireworks show going on after it, especially here in professional baseball. I mean the Declaration of Independence says we hold these truths self-evident that all men are created equal, and you look out on the field and you’ve got people from all over the world coming here together to play and working towards the same goal. So I think it’s a really beautiful thing getting to come out and take the field on the Fourth of July.”
After playing Fourth of July baseball at MGM Park for the last two seasons, the Biloxi Shuckers are taking that patriotic spirit on the road for 2018.
Tonight, they opened up a four-game series versus the Mississippi Braves. Shuckers coming off last night’s double-header sweep over the Mobile Baybears, looking to win their fourth straight.
By the time it got to the bottom of the fifth, there was a second weather delay and that’s where the officials call it. This one counts as a full game after the top of the fifth, 2-0 Braves.
