‘Old Fashioned Day’ returned to Hurley
‘Old Fashioned Day’ returned to the town of Hurley and had a wealth of surprises with 130 vendors.
The East Central Civic Association puts on the event every year to raise funds for East Central High seniors.
The festival took up all of Lum Cumbest Park with food, art, and live music under the pavilion. This was ‘Old Fashion Day’s’ 38th year and it included a car show and a Little Miss Hurley pageant.
East Central Civic Association President Kellie Faggard told News 25 how the festival got its name. “Started out in downtown Hurley at the four-way, at the old drug store. Started out there and at that time they were promoting old-fashion — you know, people show up in their old-fashion outfits and all of that.”
Mississippi Songwriters’ Alliance Ambassador Buck Allen said, “So this is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the East Central Civic Association. Each tent here had to pay to come out here, and all that money goes back into the pot to help students get the scholarships that they worked so hard for and deserve.”
The East Central Civic Association thanks its long list of sponsors for making ‘Old Fashion Day’ possible.
