Tom Wall Classic Golf Tournament
Hearts were mended and golf balls were teed off at the seventh annual Tom Wall Classic Event.
Sixty teams with 240 golfers showed up to participate. There were many different aspects of the tournament to make it a little more fun such as sitting on a toilet while teeing off and shooting balls out of an air cannon.
Many holes had a little risk though with longest drive, holes in one, and other competitions. A Callaway’s club set, Visa gift cards, free rounds of golf, and even $5,000 in cash were all part of the prizes of the day.
The organizers had a goal of $20,000 and they surpassed it. Donnie Handler, the founder of the tournament, wanted everyone to just come out and have a good time. “We do our tournaments a little bit different. Our tournament, if you think you’re coming out here to play the Masters, this tournament is not for you. This is a fun, fun tournament. We have prizes for first, second, and third, and even a special prize for the last place team.”
Handler started this event eight years ago after his son was diagnosed with congenital heart failure just six hours after he was born. Now, he is giving back to Little Mended Hearts after they helped his little boy.
