Billfish Classic helps One Meal nonprofit
While many are enjoying the fun that comes with the Billfish Classic, there is one man who is attending the tournament for a greater good.
Mike McKinley co-founded “One Meal” nine years ago with his daughter. It is a nonprofit organization in Mobile that feeds the homeless every Sunday. Today, he was at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic collecting the fish from the teams after the weigh-ins to use to feed the hungry. McKinley says they make about 7,600 meals a year.
When asked about why he dedicates so much time to this nonprofit, McKinley said, “Just the joy and happiness of being able to help somebody, it feels really good when you can do something like that because there’s so many people out there that need help right now. One Meal is a community of folks. I have a lot of people that help in all kinds of ways and it’s an opportunity for folks to help somebody else pay it forward.”
