National Donut Day

Friday is usually a good enough reason to celebrate, but this Friday there is an added bonus since it is National Donut Day.

National Donut Day was created in 1938 as a symbol of hope to honor the Salvation Army Donut Lassies who served the sweet treats to soldiers on the front lines of World War I.

Today, volunteers from the Salvation Army set up camp at the Biloxi Visitors Center to pass out free donuts. They also took the time to stop by police and fire departments across the Coast and surprise them with a sweet treat.
