Get to know your candidates
Get to know all of your local candidates right at the tips of your fingers. The League of Women Voters has invested in an online voter guide.
Catchy campaign signs and memorable slogans are just two ways candidates try to get their name out there so voters will remember them when they cast ballots on Election Day.
Now, members of the League of Women Voters are taking matters into their own hands so that citizens can get the election info they need right at the tips of their fingers. League of Women Voters Vice President Paige Roberts said, “The Mississippi League of Women Voters all got together and agreed to pay a group called Ballot Ready to create a website where voters could go in a one-stop shop method to learn about any candidates they could from federal to a county level.”
Roberts say this online voter guide is a good investment for everyone who is a part of the voting process. “The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan group which means we don’t endorse any candidate over another. What we are focused on is democracy and making sure that in the sense of true democracy is that everyone’s voice is heard and a big way to do that is through the voting process.”
With the primary election coming up on June 5th, there’s still time to check out all of the candidates. “All you have to do is go to LWV-MS.org. There is a voter guide link there. Once you do that you can follow the instructions that you need to be an educated well-informed voter,” said Roberts.
