Harrison County Gem Show
If you are someone who appreciates gems and minerals, the annual Harrison County Gem Show in Biloxi was the place to be over the weekend.
The gem show has been around for 39 years. Locals had the opportunity to purchase pieces that varied from a rough or natural state to fully polished items. There were 16 different vendors at the show where minerals, fossils, and jewelry were all for sale. Beautiful gem stones were given out as hourly door prizes.
The gem show had something for everybody to take part in during the show. Gem Show Hostess Kathy Becnel said, “We have a geologist that identifies rocks. You can bring in your strange, crazy rocks and see if you could stump her. It’s so much fun just to come in and see that everybody is happy. They want beautiful stuff. So, I like it.”
Children at the show got a chance to create their own jewelry as well as make gem trees.
