Abandoned puppies found at Jackson County Animal Shelter

This morning, four newborn puppies were found outside the gate at Jackson County Animal Shelter in Gautier.

The abandoned puppies were found by the staff covered in hundreds of fleas and two of the puppies had already died. However, the Jackson County Animal Shelter was able to rescue the two still alive and they are now flea free and recovering at the shelter.

Maridee Mallette from the Jackson County Shelter tells News 25 things like this are happening way too often with puppies. “Who could do something like that to these newborn little babies? These babies are not even a week old and I don’t know what happened to the mama dog, maybe she died, but still we would have taken the puppies during business hours. Just to dump them like that is ignorant and they can’t fend for themselves. So these got baths and they will get wormed and get everything that they need. They are on a heating pad right now so hopefully someone will come get them and bottle feed them.”

If you want to take home these pups give the Jackson County Animal Shelter a call at 228-497-6350.
