MDOT remembers fallen work zone employees

The Mississippi Department of Transportation held a ceremony yesterday at its administrative headquarters in downtown Jackson honoring employees who lost their lives in the line of duty.
This week is named National Work Zone Awareness Week and MDOT is reminding drivers that the safety of work zone employees is everyone’s responsibility. Nearly 75 percent of MDOT’s 3,400 employees work on the front lines of Mississippi highways constructing and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps the state moving.
In 2016, there were seven work zone crash fatalities in Mississippi.
