Coliseum prepares for large crowds this weekend
In 2017, Biloxi Black Beach Weekend brought in around 60,000 visitors to the Coast.
This year, the Gulf Coast Spring Fest Concert at the Coliseum, which is always the biggest event of the weekend, is full of A-list artists like Lil Wayne, 2Chainz, and Rick Ross. Coliseum officials believe the turnout for the concert will be record-breaking which could mean more than 100,000 additional visitors to the Coast and the traffic that comes with it.
Matt McDonnell, executive director of the coliseum, tells News 25 people coming to the concert need to prepare for traffic in advance. “The traffic is going to be the biggest issue. So, anyone that is planning on attending events here at the Coliseum this weekend for Spring Break. Leave early, no excuse thinking you can come in and leave 30 minutes before the show starts and expect to get here. That’s not going to happen. I strongly urge you to spend the afternoon down here on the beach. If the weather is nice come out to the grounds, we have activities all day long on the grounds.”
This weekend entry onto Coliseum property is free, but there will be a $20 fee to park on the grounds.
