Community Market officially opens season in Biloxi

The Biloxi Farmer’s Market is officially open for the season after the city held a grand opening this morning.

Vendors selling all kinds of goodies ranging from homemade honey and jams, fresh fruit and veggies to plants and baked goods gathered under the I-10 bridge overpass on Howard Avenue. Formally named The Charles R. Hegwood Biloxi Community Market, exchanges can be made from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

News 25 caught up with vendors to hear how the first day went. Local Farmer Bill David said, “The turnout was good today. They get better stuff, fresher stuff, and most of the time it’s cheaper.”

Vendor Mary Fairley said, “People should come out because it’s more fresh and it’s more healthier for them. Turnout was good today. On the first day of opening, it’s been really nice. Had lots of customers and lots of fun.”

In addition to the community market, visitors can also enjoy live entertainment, free giveaways, and activities during the market hours.
