Harrison County Sheriff’s Fishing Rodeo returned over the weekend
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Fishing Rodeo took a year off during COVID, but it came back in full force Saturday.
Poles and bait were available for those who signed up and with about 100 more kids that came in after pre-registration, the turnout was impressive.
Buddy Sports was also there, helping teach kids with special needs how to angle.
Sheriff Troy Peterson tells News 25 how this event connects law enforcement with community members. “Well, law enforcement is connecting to the community. No matter what you do in law enforcement, you have to bring the community together. It’s your job. It’s something we do every day. This brings the cities together, it brings communities together, it brings people from all over the Coast together and brings their kids with them, and gives them a tool that they can learn. And we try to teach them how to fish.”
Lunch was served right after the rodeo ended at noon.
