Long Beach mayoral candidate holds meet and greet
Mayor Billy Skelly is not running for re-election in the City of Long Beach. Tonight, one of the men looking to replace him in office held a meet and greet.
Gary Ponthieux has lived in Long Beach for 30 years. Ponthieux is in his third term as alderman, but prior to that he served on the city’s planning commission for six years. He tells News 25 that his experience and knowledge of the city make him the right guy to move Long Beach forward. “What I’d like to achieve when I become mayor is I want to bring in more businesses. I want to help the city and the citizens with their tax base. I want to make sure that I fully support a new high school. I think it’s time, the high school we have now presently is 60-years-old. I believe our children deserve better and I think I can make this happen.”
Also running for the mayor’s seat are George Bass, Leonard Carrubba, Lynda Giuffria, Ronnie Hammons Jr. and Kevin Nelson.
