Volunteers needed for Special Olympics
The Special Olympics are coming up soon here in South Mississippi and volunteers are still needed.
The games will be on March 25th at Stennis Space Center with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. Organizers are looking for Coast residents who are willing to be athlete friends.
These volunteers would be responsible for escorting the athletes during the competition. About 100 more volunteers are still needed. Paul Foerman from NASA Office of Communications said, “A lot of the athletes participating in the Special Olympics have learning disabilities or physical disabilities. They need help getting from one game to the other. These athlete friends are absolutely crucial to them participating in the games.”
If you’re interested in either sponsoring the games or becoming a volunteer you can register at SSCspecialolympics.com.
