Kemper power plant suffers more delays
Mississippi Power’s Kemper County power plant will once again miss their deadline.
The plant, which is nearly three years past its original in-service date, had its latest delay due to tube leaks in one of the syngas coolers. Southern Company does not give an update for the completion of the facility.
The plant is now estimated to be five billion dollars over the estimated $2.4 billion budget. Southern Company estimates there is an additional base cost of $25 million to $35 million a month until the plant is completed.
