Goodwill honors employees

South Mississippi Goodwill employees attended their first ever town hall meeting earlier today to celebrate the success of 2016 as one organization. Over 300 employees attended which meant shutting down all 12 Goodwill stores all for employee engagement.
Applause filled the room as 300 Goodwill employees were recognized for their success over the years. Goodwill is known for helping the less fortunate obtain a second chance. Richmond Vincent has been the president and CEO of Goodwill South Mississippi for the past two months and is excited for this event to really get the employees more involved. “A lot of these employees don’t really know what’s going on in the organization because it is so segmented because of our different locations. Now they get to hear from myself, they’re going to hear from the board of directors, they’re going to get the chance to hear from the mayor of Gulfport as well. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our success as an organization,” said Vincent.
As part of the ceremony, awards were given out for workforce development, employees of the year, and even one for Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes, who is the 2017 Goodwill Ambassador of the Year.
Vincent explains the role of being a Goodwill employee is to strive for excellence and always focus on the vision and embody the phrase P.R.I.D.E. “Which stands for passion, respect, integrity, dedication, and excellence. They embody that each and every day. Our future is to continue to grow, in terms of the number of people we serve. Our goal is to end poverty and we’re going to do that by helping people get jobs in South Mississippi.”
