Blood drives being held across the Coast
The Blood Center says five stat shipments of blood were sent out to area hospitals yesterday to help victims of the train accident.
Now they’re trying to replenish that supply. Several blood drives are being held this weekend across the Coast to help the Blood Center reach their goal of 150 units by the end of the weekend.
The Blood Center says there was enough blood on hand to help victims of yesterday’s accident, but inventory levels are typically strained coming off of Mardi Gras week. Blood Center Coastal Regional Supervisor Gina Necaise said, “We have Edgewater Mall scheduled to go this Friday and Saturday from 12 to 7. Friday we’re also going to be at Gautier from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, we’ll be at Ocean Springs Walmart and Walmart in Waveland from 12 to 7.”
There’s also one set for tomorrow in front of the PetSmart at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Gulfport from 12 to 7. Even more blood drives are in the works for tomorrow and this weekend. For a full list visit thebloodcenter.org.
