Mississippi Department of Education announces online tutoring services at no cost

The Mississippi Department of Education announces new virtual tutoring services for students across the state.

Thirteen school districts in South Mississippi are on the list to receive those services at no cost. In all, 121 districts across the state will have access to online tutoring in math and English language arts.  It is open for students in grades three through 12.

In February, the state department of education announced plans to use $10.7 million of its American Rescue Plan funds to purchase tutoring services. A company named ‘Paper’ will be providing the services.

According to MDE, tutoring will be live, online, and available 24/7. Online training and support sessions for teachers, parents, and students should begin in the coming weeks.

There’s enough funding to cover the costs of these tutoring services for the next two-and-a-half years.
