Rotary’s 100 days of service

The Rotary Club of Moss Point kicked off their 100 days of rotary service project by clearing out invasive plants at the Sawmill Landing Park site.
It’s strategically located at the entrance to the city and has a number of old live oak trees that will highlight the future park.
This project is part of their contribution to the rotary foundations’ centennial celebration. Mark LaSalle with the Moss Point Rotary Club said, “It just adds a wonderful community space where people can come and enjoy the river and enjoy and just sit out among these gigantic and gorgeous oaks.”
Moss Point Mayor Billy Broomfield said, “We were ecstatic that they wanted to take this project on and we’re glad that they chose the partnership with the city.”
Mississippi State University helped design what the future of the Sawmill Landing Park will look like. LaSalle says the first several weeks of work will be the clearing out stage then they hope to begin the building process.
