Coast drivers feeling the pinch at the pump
This morning, News 25 spoke to drivers out and about at a Shell Gas Station in Biloxi.
There, regular gasoline was $3.89 a gallon. While gas prices continue to soar, it’s causing plenty of heartache for many travelers.
Spring break is coming up and summer is on the horizon, but traveling plans for many have been put on pause as their main focus is fueling up and paying up for essential travel. Gulfport resident Reco Domio said, “This is ridiculous. I don’t understand how you can afford it if you don’t even if you don’t even make enough money to buy, you know.”
Jackson County resident Tina Williams said, “Everyone is at a standstill. The gas prices started going up, they’re not going down. I don’t even know what to do. I’m just going to give it to God.”
Biloxi resident Frederick Smith said, “Doing all I can. I put gas a lot in the truck. It takes a lot in gas. I want to go see my dad and I can’t see him now so I’m going to do the best I can.”
Visitor Doug Powers said, “It was $81 to fill the truck up yesterday. That takes away from going out to eat and doing the things you enjoy doing. You put it all in the gas tank now.”
“In the summer is going to be real rough around here in a little while so.”
News 25 also spoke to a couple vacationing on Casino Row from Florida, they flew in because purchasing a plane ticket was cheaper than driving.
