Overnight Fire Destroys Home

A Gulfport family is coming home from a Mardi Gras vacation to a burned down home after an overnight fire.

The single story home went up in flames around 3 this morning.
The family of four was not home and the dogs in the backyard were not injured during the fire.
The investigator on scene tells News 25 the home suffered major smoke damage and the fire was primarily in the attic over the master bedroom.
A family member and neighbor were just thankful no one was home.

“Luckily I’m here so they can move next door until they get everything fixed so it’s sad that the kids lost all they clothes and they toys… And everything so that’s the hard part the kids lost everything so as an adult we can deal with the loss but it’s hard on kids.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
