Southern Miss football begins spring practice
Across three games this weekend, Southern Miss baseball drew 14,006 fans, the second highest attendance mark for an opening series in program history.
Right across campus, Southern Miss football drew about 14,000 fewer fans for its opening spring practice on Saturday and then again today, both closed to the public as the Golden Eagles get to work on their second season under Will Hall, getting better while no one is watching. Coach Hall said, “It was supposed to rain, supposed to thunderstorm. We got nothing. Got the full practice in. Got up and rolled and we’re so thankful for that and so blessed for that. Another day down. You can see a lot of good things. I’ll say what I said the other day. You can kind of convince yourself of anything. You see how people can run and jump and how they move. But football is played with pads on, and a lot of people dwindle when the pads get on and some people step up when pads get on, and we’ll have the pads on in the next practice. We’re looking forward to that.”
The Black and Gold have 13 more spring football sessions leading up to and including the program’s April 2nd spring game. USM was 3-9 overall in 2021.
